Deadline for application: Dec 18, noon
Project Summary
The youth exchange „Georman Rainbowtopia – Empowerment Camp for Young Proud Activists“ is a project by two NGOs from Germany and Georgia, the Eine Welt Netz NRW and Sunny House Tibilisi. It is funded by the European Union (Erasmus+). In this seven day-programme we will learn, exchange, strengthen, recharge and empower through interactive workshops, games, mindfulness activities, hiking, sports and conversations. Be mindful that it is a youth exchange, not a training course, so the success of the program depends on the group’s contributions, too.
Can I participate?
To take part in the youth exchange, you have to:
- be a resident of Germany or Georgia
- have valid travel documents and be able to enter Georgia
- be between 18 and 30 years of age
- speak and understand English at a decent level
- consider yourself an activist or active ally
What does participation cost?
All costs are covered including the participation in the seminar, accomodation, food and travel. However, there’s a limit to the travel costs for the participants travelling from Germany: 300,00 € (both ways). In case your travel costs more, you’ll have to cover the surplus yourself. If you save money, we can use it on other things during the exchange. Also health insurance in Georgia is not covered by us, so you have to take care of it yourselves. For the participants from Georgia, we’ll cover the bus/train ticket.
Where will the exchange take place?
The exchange takes places in the town of Tsemi, Georgia. The location is close to nature and in the mountains. Accomodation will be in shared rooms. Food is provided starting with dinner on Feb 25 to March 4 breakfast.
How do I sign up?
You want to join? Great! Apply here.
We’ll contact everyone before Christmas. Unfortunately, we can only take 24 people max (12 per country). We’ll make sure to have a diverse group of people so we can learn from each other.
What do I do after I get the confirmation?
First things first: Book your travel!
You are responsible for your own booking and will get up to 300€ reimbursed when you present us the tickets and (original) boarding passes after the exchange – remember to keep them and/or take screenshots! After booking, please send us your flight number and arrival time immediately. For everyone travelling from Germany, you have to fly to Tblisi Airport, not Kutaisi. From there, we will arrange your further transport.
If you have any questions, don’t know how to book the travel or cannot advance the costs until reimbursement, do not hesitate to contact us. We will be happy to help, no worries.
What will we do?
The whole programme will be sent to you shortly before the exchange starts.
It will be an interactive and fun mix of workshops, outdoor activities, networking and games. Depending on the weather, we will spend as much time outside as possible. We expect you to participate actively in the sessions but of course take care of yourself and the others. Taking breaks if needed is absolutely okay. There’s also lots of room for your contributions:
- you want to offer a workshop or session on a topic you find important?
- you want to show us your favourite game?
- you want to offer a sports session (from aerobics to zumba, basketball to yoga, everything is welcome)?
- another idea?
Please let us know about your ideas in your application (later is still possible but this allows us to plan better).
Can I stay longer?
Yes! You are allowed to stay a total of 4 days longer than the youth exchange lasts, so you could arrive earlier or stay longer to explore Georgia. However, the costs for these „extra-days“ (such as accomodation and food) will not be covered by us.
What do I have to bring?
Here’s an incomplete list of things you should bring?
- warm comfortable clothes – the weather in February/ March is rather cold, so be prepared for -10°C and snow as well as for 10°C and sun (we’ll send more information right before the exchange)
- pyjama
- comfortable and rainproof shoes
- rainproof jacket
- sun protection

- if you want to take part in sports sessions, bring clothes for that
